Christmas 2010

This year Christmas was pretty great. I joined along with Charles and his 2 ladies (well, his ex-course mates) for Christmas eve celebration or indeed countdown for Christmas. Although the initial plan was to be celebrating at a lounge, count down there as well, but turn out that we countdown in the car instead.

We went to Delicious for dinner, and that was pretty good experience compare to the few past experience I have at Mid Valley. I think the outlet in Jalan Tun Razak is keeping it's quality of service. Perhaps due to the location, just next to Duo Residency.

After driving all the way to Quattro, Avenue K, we found that it wasn't what we initial plan it to be. It wasn't really nice for us and it's damn expensive. Cover charge that night is RM68 for guys. OMG. So we decided to change our location, ended up at The Library, Mid Valley.

Shifting of location causing us to count down in our car at the end. However, we did have our great time at The Library after that. It was a great Christmas, despite two single ladies and two bachelors kept on checking out people around without making any move at all. LOL.

So, Christmas is over. But the spirit didn't die off just like that. Today, my ballroom dance mates just organise a potluck in the studio. After the class, we have a great feast. We have taken a lots of photos and I have posted most of it on Facebook.

Waltz Friendly Match At Fitness First, IOI Mall

My gym had organised a small ballroom competition yesterday. It was really fun. It't not those official kind of ballroom competition or else, I will be definitely out of the game in the first round. LOL. However, I think by organising such event really helps us to enjoy ourselves and know where we are standing. The most important is I think it will help us to improve ourself.

We started with 9 pairs of us if I'm not mistaken. Every round we dance, the bottom two pairs will have to leave us. Anyway, since it's not an official dance competition, it's just a small friendly match kind of thing, there is not winner or loser. We just ended up competing for the best three pairs. So there are 3 rounds of Waltz to dance. Below is the photo we took together after the competion. Too bad not all the girls there, but all the guys are there. LOL.
Personally, I think everyone putting quite a lot of effort to this friendly match and everyone is a winner since we all have the guts to compete with each other. The match began with the ladies draw the name of the male partner from the male pool list. It's a random selection so that we can dance around with different people yet improving ourselves together.

Maggie, Kelvin's wife picked me up. So I will be her partner for the competition. Well, she is really a good in Waltz. I think she dances better than me a lot and thanks to her helping me up at the dance floor. LOL. I think your both the male and female play a very important role togehter to make the dance a success. It's mutual understanding, respect, and toleration that need to be taken place in order to make it look good.

So I guess I'm lucky to be in the final 3. Well, I guess I do remember my steps kind of well. I think I did very minimal mistake on the steps, maybe the pose and the expression is kind of hard to control since I don't practise often. Imagine it I only dance once a week, two at most at the gym. It's not that I dance quite often at those dance school or stuff. It's really something for me, I mean the experience. Anyway, below is the photo of the best three pairs, of course including me myself. LOL.

Friendly Match of Ballroom Dancing - Waltz

My gym organised a ballroom dancing competition, friendly match kinda dance. It's Waltz this time. Probably they will organised it again but other dance probably. Maybe Tango or Quickstep or even Paso Doble. I will never know till then.

However, today we have a friendly match. It's a rehearsal kinda competition among our dance mates. It's fun. But I ended up in the top four with my partner today, Amy in Waltz. We didn't manage to get into the top three. A little bit disappointing because I get nervous and dance out of tempo. Not to mention that my glaze drop to the dance floor which does not seems nice.

Well, I'm still happy and proud that I can dance the whole thing and not feeling being stupid about forgetting my steps. If you would like to have a sneak view of the whole thing, my dance mate actually do uploaded a shirt clip of the competition in Facebook. You can click on this link to watch the 56 seconds clips.

Paso Doble

"Paso Doble or Pasodoble (literal meaning in Spanish: double-step) is a typical Spanish march-like musical style as well as the corresponding dance style danced by a couple. It is the type of music typically played in bullfights during the bullfighters' entrance to the ring (paseo) or during the passes (faena) just before the kill. It corresponds to the Pasodoble dance (traditional and ballroom).

Paso Doble or pasodoble is a lively style of dance to the duple meter march-like pasodoble music. It actually originated in southern France, but is modeled after the sound, drama, and movement of the Spanish bullfight. Paso doble means "double step" in Spanish.

Famous bullfighters have been honored with pasodoble tunes named after them. Others are inspired in patriotic motives or local characters." [Wikipedia]

For more info of this dance, you can read it out from Wikipedia as the link provided here.
*******
Today, I learn a new dance, Paso Doble, just like what a little information I have been given here earlier. It's kind of challenging dance and kinda nice to dance around too. A bit more tiring compare to Quicksteps and more steps than it too. As usual, I guess I need more training in this dance before I can really dance till have the feeling of pasodoble or bullfighting.

I'm thinking to join line dance provided in Fitness First too. Maybe I start joining it tomorrow. It seems pretty fun too.

Dancing + Dinner at Crown Palace Restaurant, Sri Petaling

I just come back from dinner cum dancing at Crown Palace Restaurant, Sri Petaling, organized by the dance instructor (Ms. Janice) from Fitness Fitness. There were the IOI Mall, Puchong members, Leisure Mall (Cheras) member, and two more which I'm not so sure of. It's just a normal Chinese dinner cum with the dance floor for us to dance around (either to play around or to practice outside of the classroom or studio).

Well, I'm pretty tired because I dance kind of a lot too. I tried the Tango, Quickstep, Waltz, Chacha, Rumba, Samba and some I forgot the name of the dance (because I just learn today last minute for it. LOL). Anyway, some of the dance, like Rumba and Chacha, I dance badly because I tends to forget the steps and only remember some of the groups. So I was like kinda repeating the few groups that I remember with my partner.

It's fun although there are not many youngster like me (aged between 20~25), but there still got some mature guys and ladies (aged between 25~35) dance around with us. Those older ones (above 40) also got almost like 40% out of all those who attended this event. LOL.

Hope they organize this kind of event again next time (but not so soon, as I need to brush up my dancing skill. LOL). The more I practice, the more I can remember I think. Tomorrow going to attend my ballroom dancing class again at 9.30am. The worst thing is I gotta be there earlier as I need to work out with Chee Yuen at 7am.

Gosh, I think I better go to bed as soon as possible. This might be the last few weeks I'm going gym with Chee Yuen as he is going to Germany to study soon already. So, I do not think I wanna turn him down for the work out session. Hope I can wake up tomorrow morning for all the routines. ^^

Rock N' Roll + Tango + Rumba

This week (both Saturday and Sunday), I learn a new dance and practised some other dance, which are Tango and Rumba. Although we practise more on Tango today than Rumba, but at least we did some. I kinda forget how to dance Rumba because did not practise for some time already.

Tango kinda not too bad. Just need to practise more for the leg movements. Rumba, kinda need to recall back most of the steps as I forget some already. I kinda stuck when I need to change to a different part of the dance.

The new dance I have learned this week is Rock N' Roll. Actually it's kinda easy but then in remember the steps, maybe kinda tough. You do not want to get stuck halfway or crash onto your partner. The music is kinda fast and so do your moves. If you get stuck, then gone. You have to catch back the steps and start again.

My Lousy Cha Cha

We practised Tango and Rumba again today, with a little extra steps and some techniques. It was fun until my instructor wanted to practise Cha Cha, which I have not much idea how to dance it. I'm kinda bad in it I personally think. Guess I need more training and attend more class to get use to the steps.

Today, although Chee Yuen didn't turn up (I have no idea why he didn't but then he told me earlier already), I did go a little bit of workout. After my dance class, I meet with Charles and his friend, Brian at Fitness First. We continued with some workout and the hit the steam room.

After all the workout and steaming session, as usual, we surely look for a place to fill our tummy. We went to Bumbu Bali at first, but then ended up running out after looking at the price and our wallet. LOL.. Guess gotta wait till we got our pay before going there for real, Ended up we went to Star Village for lunch.

Now I'm pretty tired. Not to say very tired, but kinda lazy enough to drive out again for now. If only have someone wanna go out for dinner with me now, perhaps I'll think about. I just don't wanna drive out right now.

Tango & Rumba

Today as usual is my gym day with Chee Yuen and my ballroom dancing class. I'm starting to work on coming Wednesday, so I guess I might be going for gym at night on weekdays now. But Sunday still on and as well as my dancing class.

Today, I learn a new dance, TANGO. It's amazingly the most easiest steps of all dance I learned so far. The hardest part for this dance is the tempo and that expression. Tango is a dance that full of spirit, some how like attacking. The staccato tempo and that head shaking part are things that I need to practise. LOL. Nothing much, just learn some basic steps only.

The other dance is Rumba. It was just a revise of the first group that we have learned previously and addition of another new steps. It is a nice movement, but then I think my hand movements and the steps need to be practise a bit more. The hipping part is the hardest for me. At times, I fell that the hipping part make me look like a fool. Kinda like shaking the butt here and there while dancing. But if you can dance properly with the hipping, it is a wonderful thing. So I should be practising and be proud later on. LOL..

Dancing Class & First Shopping Trip of This Month

Today I'm pretty tired. As usual, I went to Fitness First in the morning for gym with Chee Yuen, then followed by my ballroom dancing class. We train more on our biceps and triceps today and some shoulder as well.

As for ballroom dancing, today kinda practise my Quickstep, Jive, Rumba and little bit of Samba. Oh my God, so much in a day but I have fun. After attending this ballroom dancing class for almost one month plus, I'm kinda not too bad in learning it especially Quickstep. So now can dance a bit already. An auntie (forget her name already) kinda partner with me recently for almost 3 classes already. I guess she will be my learning partner most of the time now. It's ok I guess, anyway it's all about learning dancing and not to have a gorgeous dancing partner, right? LOL.

After the class, I went to Times Square, Sungai Wang and Pavillion with Charles. I was suppose to accompany him to walk around because he wanted to buy a facial mask from the shop called "Beauty Credit" in Sungai Wang. Ended up, I brought it with him along. I got the fresh kiwi mask from Beauty Credit. Since my toner is running out, I ended up getting a toner called "Fresh Juiece Toner" from Skin Food. I got some samples to try from both skin care shops. So now I'm broke. (T.T)

I think I'll only get the things that I want from the Beauty Credit and The Body Shop next time. Probably after I get my wages when I get a job. LOL. I wanna go shopping again. It's Mega Sales but it still burn a BIG hole on my wallet.

Quick Steps

I kinda tired after gym with Chee Yuen at Fitness First, IOI Mall, Puchong. Today I aim more on my legs. Been doing some leg press (I think it's called that way), and some biceps and triceps before I proceed to the Ballroom dancing class that I've been joining for 3 weeks already for now. This is the third class I'm attending.

I was suppose to join the class with Chee Yuen at the first place but then he has been skipping the class after the first class. He said he is interested but then I don't think that he is that into it. Well, maybe I'm into old stuff or something not normally people will join. LOL.

This week, it's more on Quick steps, which I have more confident in dancing it. Previous two classes, the tutor teaches us Quick steps and also Cha Cha. Seriously, I have no idea how to dance Cha Cha at all till now. I think the steps a bit more complicated. Maybe because it also involve with the hands movement too.

For now, all the basic I have already learned. But then I guess I'll have to practise and dance a bit more with someone to make it perfect and master it properly. Mastering the steps is not all, but then the toe and heel movement and the turning part also need to master as well.

I guess next week, maybe we will just practise a bit more for the Quick steps and then back to either Cha Cha (which I'm super lousy at it) or perhaps other new dance. LOL. Actually, I'm a bit thrill for next week class. So, who wanna learn Quick steps for free from me? I might not be perfect instructor but I still can teach a bit. LOL. Lastly, who wanna be my partner to dance with me? LOL

If anyone interested in ballroom dancing and is a member of Fitness First, do come for the classes with me. I'm attending the classes in Fitness First IOI Mall every Sunday, 9.35am. Lets move your body and learn some classy dancing that shock your friends and people around you.
