Oh My Gosh!! We Are In The Paper

Less that I know, I'm on the Star newspaper last Sunday, 16th of August 2009 on the Education Section. If not Weng Foong told me about it, I might even miss it. Well, sorry for writing this blog kinda few days late.

It's a bit sad not all of us is in the photo, but then luckily I'm there too. LOL. We can show around that piece of paper to people. LOL. My mother was asking me to even laminate it so that it wouldn't turn bad. I guess I'll do it as to protect it since it once in a lifetime.

In this photo, only Jun Hou, Weng Foong, Eric, Wie Kee, Voon Yuke, Vivian, Seng Hong, Tansra, Moses, Pek Yen, Yuen Loon, Jia Yi, Chien Wei, Zhau Ying, Janet (not facing the camera) and me are there in it.

Thinking back, time flies so fast. It's over for our 3 years study in UTAR for the degree of Bachelor of Science (Honours) Biomedical Science, but our friendship remains forever. At least that is what I hope for. LOL. Do keep in touch guys.

My Convocation 2009

On Sunday, 9th August 2009, it's a pretty tiring day but an amazing and unforgettable day for all my course mates and as well all graduands on that very day. It's UTAR 9th Convocation (which held on the 7th, 8th and 9th of August), and mine was the fifth session, which is on the morning of 9th of August. It was so great and yet so tiring. YBhg Dato' Dr. Lim Khaik Leang was my guest of honour for my Session 5, UTAR Convocation Day.

We reached Wisma MCA early in the morning and I have to be getting to the Robing Room to register and get changing before entering to the ceremony hall. The whole programme for Session 5 is as follows:
Finally, everything is done and we went out for our photo taking session with family and friends. It's was a great day of mixing feeling. So I can't tell you much. I guess all the photos I'm posting here tells much more than words can be describe all about.

I'm not going to put any caption for all the photos I'm posting it here in this blog as too many to be put it in. I guess you can manage to find yourself in the picture if you are there and to those not there, it just simply means you didn't take picture with me or you didn't even turn up at my convocation. So need not to mention lor.. Haha, kidding. You just have to guess who are they, and if you wanna know them, let me know. I'll tell you. LOL.

A Treat Before Convocation

Today, the eve of my own very convocation day. LOL. I did a lot of things this week. In my previous blog, I did mention that I went for facial spa, then i did my hair cut, get my convocation gown etc., and of course some of my own stuff. As usual, I went for gym and my dancing class. Too bad, tomorrow I gotta skip this week class for my convocation.

This morning, I went to Fitness First, The Curve to work out with Douglas. I joined that RPM class which I didn't go for it before. It's pretty good actually cause it does really make me sweat. However, I would only join once a week I guess next time. I don't want to kill all my calories, ended up getting thinner. LOL. After the gym, I got treated lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., and the experience is amazing. The food there is great. I guess you would hardly get disappointed dining there, just it might burn a hole in your wallet.

If you gonna ask me how good it is, I have to ask you go and try yourself. It's good until I forgot to even take some photos of it. LOL. That's a lie. Actually I'm starving that time and totally forgot to capture some for my blog. If I have a chance to dine there again, I will capture some (provided I have the budget to dine). Luckily this is a treat, or else I'll be washing plates there.

It's just another 10 hours, my convocation is going to be held in Wisma MCA. I'm happy that my family are coming, I'll meet back most of my course mates. Maybe take some photos and I guess it will be last one that we all will be taking together. After that, I'll be taking graduation photo with family back at my area. I think it's cheaper than the one offer in UTAR.

Convocation is Coming

Convocation is coming real soon. This Sunday is my convocation already. It's start at 8am, at Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. It's once in a life time thing to be experience. Been doing some preparation lately. LOL.

Yesterday just went to UTAR, PJ campus with Poi Ying and met with some ex-course mates. We queued up like about 6 hours to get that convocation gown, hood, mortarboard and other stuff. Queued up till my legs hurts. But then I met with Jun Hou, Melissa, Yin Sian, Naresh, Pek Yen, Janet, Suet Ying etc.. But than only able to chat with Jun Hou and Naresh the most. LOL.

At least Poi Ying and I went to HerbaLine to do our facial wash. First time experience to be having such a facial spa. It's a great experience. We did our sea salt foot bath, then proceed to some aromatherapy to relax before our facial wash session, and lastly not to forget is fish spa. The facial spa ended with a spa soup (taste like ginger soup only) and another aromatherapy for refresh purposes. It's so relaxing that I even fall asleep. The bad thing is that snored somehow, maybe bacause I'm too tired. LOL. They even served us a bowl of rice porridge with olive leave.

After the facial spa, I went to Fitness First, The Curve to work out with my friend, Douglas. I wonder how he can get that good figure and to be able to carry such weight. It looks scary when all those guys in the free weight section carrying those weight (mostly look like they took the weight that is much more heavier than they could be taking) and able to complete that work out. Their expression are so agression and violent as if they can eat you up if you mess with them. I think I just want to tone myself a little bit more and that's it. I don't plan to be like that, such a muscular body. I know it's nice but I don't wanna torture myself for it. Furthermore, I have no money to get those protein supplement. Guess I just have to stick with what I have and what I can afford to have..

Final Exam is Over

Today, finally the final paper have done. Hopefully I pass all my paper and graduates like everyone wish for. Well, this two weeks are so suffering, especially this week. The Virology and Pharmacology paper really killing me. I can still feel the dizziness that I gain from these two papers. LOL.

So tired today. After the exam, as planned, we (Eric, Jeff, Moses, Seng Hong, Vivian, Vicky, Poi Ying, Yin Sian and Lit Teng) went to Times Square to take our lunch. We went to Gasoline, and I ordered Thai style fried rice. Well, it taste not that nice also. Just ordinary piece of fried rice. Haha. I think we had a bad experience there. The waiters there were so blur. Two things that I can't stop laughing at are that waiter don't know how to differentiate seafood and chicken, and when we asked him what fried rice was that, he answered "fried rice lo". *Sweat*. Of course we know that is fried rice, but what style of fried rice? Eric ordered seafood cheese baked rice, they served him chicken cheese baked rice, then tell Eric that is chicken rice. What a joke.

After the lunch, we went to Redbox at Low Yat and sang almost 7 hours there. I think my throat is still very the itchiness n pain after all the screaming and shouting. We sang there like a bunch of mad cow. So phycho we be there. It was really fun.

Almost 9.30pm, we drove all the way to 'Look Up Point' in Ampang to have a sight seeing of the majestic night scenery of KL. Have our drink next to the Gasoline, which is some kind of Western food restaurant. I get a large apple juice, it's really large that I filled my tummy with juice only. The most amazing part was we saw there is a guy propose to a girl to marry him in front of our eyes (our table just next to them). It is her birthday some more I think because I saw them get her a cake before that proposal. I think he picked a kinda wonderful site for proposal, with the wonderful night scenery of KL to be the back drop of his courage action. Wow, it's so sweet for her and she agreed for it. I wonder when is their wedding if going on. I hope that they will be happy for each other.

Then I got my belated birthday gift (photo album) from them, which I suspect that they were doing some last minutes write up to it. Thanks to all of you. It's really an amazing day, had a lot of fun. Really gonna miss all of you after this. Last semester already, might not be seeing you guys in near future or as often as we did in university. Hope you all will do well in whatever job u obtained or dreams. I really tired now, guess i need hit the sack for good. My eye bad is so obvious already. Haha.

Happy Birthday...

Today, it's my birthday. The very first present I got is from UTAR. PRESENTATION for my FYP. Arrgghh.... What a day for me.. Gotta scares my sh*t out to prepare for the presentation and get those 'presents' from Dr. Anthony, Dr. Kim and Dr. Mohd Abdel. They so 'kinda', keep on bombarding me with their 'presents' till I don't know how to response already. Think I did badly for my presentation.

Well, after presenting, submitted my thesis to the admin and my lecturer, I went back home to celebrate my birthday. It's a simple one. Just a slice of Secret Recipes' cake (chocolate indulgence) and some so so dinner. The details not going to state here. Tired to type for today.

So I'll wait for anyone still wanna celebrate with me, come ahead. LOL. Then I can post it later on ma. Hehe. Overall, this year birthday wasn't as great compare to last year till now. Hopefully it turns out to be a surprise later on. LOL. I'm so greedy.

My Coming Birthday

Well, have been super busy lately trying to finish up my thesis for my final year project. It almost kill me most of the time. I gotta sacrificed my sleeping time and leisure time just for it. Almost no life because of it.

Since my birthday is coming, I always do have a birthday wish. Maybe wishes as I'm greedy for it. LOL. So what are the wishes for my birthday this year? I wish that:
  • Do well in my FYP presentation
  • Completed my thesis and hand on time
  • I'll pass my finals, hopefully some A or B
  • Go for a nice dinner
I think that is the basic ones. I don't know is it a joke or not. My birthday is the day due for my thesis submission and FYP presentation. Why both have to be on that day? Guess I can only enjoy my birthday after my FYP presentation. *Sad*

Looking at Present & Past

Final year, final semester in UTAR this year. Going to be graduating soon this May. Convocation also set on August just the date haven't announce yet. Look back at time, I found out it passes so fast. But then looking forward, it is like kinda long way to go or to wait for it. This is part of life. We always tends to hope for something and found out that we ought to wait so long or gone through so much in order to achieve some desire material or lifestyle. When we look back at it, you found out that time passes so fast, and you start to miss all the things along the way.

Sometimes we tends to neglect things that looks small to us. But when we about to leave it or miss it, then we feel a bit hard to just lose them or that thing itself. Although I don't feel that I neglect my course mates but I still think that I'll miss most of them. Especially those I used to hang out most, those who we gone through up and down together, all the gossiping about the classmates and lecturers. I'm gonna miss all that very soon and step into the working world real soon.

Well, with my current CGPA, I don't know what I can really do in the near future as we can see the economic crisis that hit the world, even in Malaysia itself. Guess not much choices left for me also. Just hope that can be happy with life, spent more time with family and friends that will be good for me.

Almost three years in UTAR, I know all my course mates (well, since I'm the course rep since Year 1 Sem 1 till now ma!!), know 30~40% of lecturer in my campus, some other friends in campus, even some friends from different campus (which is UTAR student also due to soft skill that I joined), I really learn a lot from all of them. They make me learn how to be strong at times, loves people around me, how to treat a friends, how to avoid people that will definately hurts you, etc.

After this semester, most of them might not be seeing each again as some will go back to their hometown, some might still stay in KL but will be busy with work and life. Just hope that we all still can keep in touch and gather around sometime in the future. All the best to all in their study, exam, finals, presentations, job seeking, and life. ^^

Pharmacology and Virology test

I've been quite busy lately... This week itself, I have pharmacology and virology mid term test. Kinda killing me already since so much things to revise for both of the paper. Virology today was even worst. Maybe I also did not study much on all the viruses classification (but who on Earth wanna study all those family of viruses, Baltimore classification of all types of viruses, the capsid structure, whether it is enveloped or naked virus, and the receptor for its attachment?), so I can't score in that part. That question alone already carry 30 marks. *sad*

Anyway, all those test were over. I guess I wanna catch a movie someday since recently been studying for the tests only. I gotta release some stress also. Kinda a lot of movie I wanna watch but then no time only.

The worst thing still is the assignment awaiting us. My group mates for the Sociology assignment planning to have a discussion regarding the presentation on tomorrow and maybe the day after tomorrow if we unable to finish everything. My lecturer also missing somewhere that we have no other choice to see her to discuss about our assignment except email. But as far as I know, she only replied "mmm... lets discuss it on saturday..". I'm speechless already.

I just felt that this semester for me is very hectic, and tiring. I don't really have much time for my own to do things that I wanted to do. I don't really have time to watch movies, loitering around the malls, chit chat with friends etc. Wish have more time to do more things for myself. LOL. Maybe I need some time management.

New Semester

My new semester has begun... New year, new semester but same old me. LOL. Currently, Melissa, Ursula, Jun Hou, Suet Ying, me etc. are waiting for the UTAR management to come out with fair treatment regarding the car parking sticker... It's a bad experience I can say to you all. I'm lazy to blog about what UTAR have done to us... You may refer this through Melissa's blog under "Monday, January 12, 2009" entry...

Semester started yesterday with just 2 lectures, which were Pharmacology by Dr Anthony Ho (last year, Neurology lecture) and Sociology by Ms Charanjit Kaur... Before we attend Sociology, Melissa, Ursula, Jun Hou and me went to Jusco, Alpha Angle for lunch at Johnny's...

This semester, I have to choose an elective subject, either Sociology that I had attend a class yesterday or Interpersonal communication which most of my course mates ran off before it even started. I'm still haven't make up my mind which one to choose. However, I think most probably Sociology. Perhaps I gotta say goodbye to Ms Catherine Lee, the Interpersonal Communication lecturer...

As for Virology, Dr Say, the lecturer seems unenthusiastic to teach us at all during the lab briefing... He speaks softly and boring. Maybe it's too early or just the first lecture of the day. Dr Lim (previously Proteins and Proteomics' lecturer) taking over Oncology this semester. Her first lecture wasn't that interesting as well... I think she should learn a trick or two from Dr. Anthony Ho since they are good friend. LOL...

Production of Mangosteen

This week, I'll be busy with the production of my mangosteen drink. A lot of things to do such as weighting the raw materials, prepare hot water, mixing of the materials, pasteurizing the juice, bottling (hot fill) & packaging.

Yesterday, Yin Sian was there to help me up with the production but today she gotta go back to UTAR for her antioxidant testing and cocoa extraction I guess. So I kind of gotta do all the thing myself. Fortunately, my sister is free today and she is willing to help me out. LOL. Don't know whether I can finish it all by myself or not. Yesterday, we managed to prepare 106 bottles only. Today, my sister and me so crazy that we managed to come out with 126 bottles. So there is another 68 bottles more. Maybe a few bottles extra for QA.

Just 2 days preparing the mangosteen juice, it nearly kill me. my back is aching now and I'm totally exhausted till I can't explain. I still need to go back to UTAR to check out how to prepare a consent form as well as the sensory profile evaluation form. Thanks to somebody (that she asked me not to mention her name), she did send me a sample of sensory evaluation format to me. This help me a bit in order to prepare my own form.

Currently, I'm still searching for people that are willing to volunteer themselves as my subject to be tested for anti hypertension properties of mangosteen, which in this case, my mangosteen juice. I have 2 volunteers here now, maybe 1 more later. However I still need about 7 more. Hope I can find my subjects as soon as possible.

I just need my subject to meet a few requirement only. First, he or she cannot consume coffee and alcoholic beverages during the period of testing. Next, he or she has to drink the mangosteen juice a bottle per day for 30 days and able to let me take his or her blood pressure once or twice per week. Most important is that he or she have to have blood pressure above 120/80 and below 140/90 to be my subject. God bless me and you.

FYP - Killing Me

Sorry guys, I was kinda busy with my final year project after the finals and my vacations. Didn't blog almost one month already. So, I think it's time for me to get back in track.

Recently, as I post in my shout out, I'm doing my Final Year Project under the supervision of Dr. Haresh, title "Development of Functional Food". Well, I'm doing not really food but instead a drink - Mangosteen Drink. I'm doing the project at Taman Perindustrian Puchong (Furley Sdn Bhd) together with Yin Sian but she is doing cocoa drink.

Well, this project kinda killing me because they want me to do this drink for some functional properties except for antioxidant properties. After changing my directions a few times, I ended up doing the anti hypertension properties. However, I still can't find one free article, journal or what so ever scientific related writing about this property except a brief facts on it.

Still struggling to come out a better formulation for my mangosteen juice while searching the net for any pieces of related article or journal. Today, my supervisor from the company comment on my drink. She said it was OK but the taste doesn't stay too long. She rates the drink and gave me 65 marks. LOL. Like having an exam.

Next week, I gotta try and error again to come out with a better tasting mangosteen juice, hopefully. I'm gonna figure it out the formula again, since I'm thinking of substituting the sugar with sweetener, since it is more health conscious. Below is my latest Mangosteen Formulation photo.

Anyway, Happy Halloween to all of you. Hope that you guys enjoy this special night with your loves one or some horrible person... LOL... Just don't get nightmare after this will do.

Tansra's Birthday

Today is Tansra's birthday. Happy 22nd birthday Tansra - if you read my blog here. So we,Voon Yuke, Poi Ying, Xing Yi, Suet Ying & me went to McDonald's, Jusco, Setapak there to celebrate. Of course not Nando's again. LOL.

We did make fun of her, especially the piggy logo of a pig on top of the cake. LOL. Voon Yuke's idea I guess. Too bad that I have done the dental surgery so that I can't really eat burger so I gotta take the chicken porridge instead. Well, it wasn't taste bad anyway. It's kinda tasty. We took quite a bit of photos. Just hope that she enjoys her day today.

Toxicology Poster Presentation

Today in UTAR, my course (Biomedical Science) and the biochemistry have out poster presentation for toxicology subject. I think we done the best we can in this presentation. Well, I don't have much to say about this event, just that today, I can't talk that well. My gum still in pain when I talk too much.

However, I think my group done a very good job. My group got the third place after Janet's group consist of Janet, Aki, Suet Ying, which is the winner & Caren, and Lit Teng's group the second consist of Lit Teng, Vivian, Yin Sian & Wie Kee. So I guess I gotta thank my group mate that they have done a superb job. Well done Naresh for his lead, Jun Hou for his idea and arguement, and Jing Yung for his journal and his design of the poster.
